The 1st XI began their season with a comfortable 9 wicket victory in the Bucks Cup away to Marlow.

Beaconsfield thrashed Marlow by 9 wickets having bowled them out for 107 in just 30 overs.

Despite losing the toss, everything went right for Beaconsfield as Ahmed Hassan took the first wicket in the 2nd over without a run on the board. The opening bowlers bowled good lengths and contained the Marlow openers and Jon Mahood took the second wicket to leave Marlow 10-2.

After that Marlow never looked like getting back into the game despite stubborn resistance from captain Paskins. Hugo Southwell bowled a controlled 9 over spell in his first game for the club, finishing with 2-29, whilst at the other end Tamoor Hussain picked up 3 wickets despite not bowling at his best.

Whilst there was rustiness in the field, the bowlers were backed up by some great catches by Suter, Walker & Harrison before James Rendell came on to clean up the tail, finishing with 3-6.

In reply, the opening partnership of Adam Francis (63*) & Luc Walker (39) saw Beaconsfield cruise to victory with an opening stand of 106.

The Marlow bowling attack had no answer as the pair played sensibly, waiting for the bad balls and putting everything away comfortably, picking up singles along the way to avoid any pressure building. Unfortunately Walker fell with 2 runs to win but the game was all but won as Francis finished with a very solid 63.

Next week Beaconsfield host Stoke Green in the Bucks Cup where victory will see them progress as winners from their group.
