Jeremy Suter stars with the bat again leading Beaconsfield to a 3 wicket derby win!

The 1st XI made it 3 league wins in a row as they chased down 203, completing victory in the final over of the game with 3 wickets in hand.

Amersham won the toss and elected to bat and a good flat pitch and quick outfield always like to give value for runs. Beaconsfield got off to a great start with David Heavyside removing Rob Viney with the second ball of the game, but with Jon Mahood struggling early on Bruce Frederichs got off to a quick start. Mahood (3-32) eventually found his rhythm and his length and managed to remove Fleming, Cann & Langley in consecutive overs, then when Tamoor Hussain dismissed Andy Viney, Amersham found themselves in trouble at 70-5.

Amersham rebuilt as their coach Frederichs (92) was joined by their skipper, Luke Jackson (63) as the pair put on over 100 to swing the momentum in Amersham's favour and a score of potentially 250 was on the cards. But when Jason Harrison (3-38) & the excellent Hussain (3-28) removed them both within a couple of overs, the Amersham tail only just managed to see the score beyond 200 and made the cardinal sin of not using all of their overs finishing 203 all out leaving Beaconsfield with 50 overs to chase the runs.

In reply, Beaconsfield got off to a solid if not spectacular start as Adam Francis continued his good form. Luc Walker was unlucky to be run-out backing up as the bowler got a hand on a straight shot from Francis. Harrison played some crisp cover drives before getting a decent ball from Alex Lines edging to the keeper. Francis then misjudged the length of one from Jackson and was bowled, bring together Suter & Chris Thomas.

Beaconsfield paced the innings well and seemed in control throughout, even when Thomas (35) got a shocker of an LBW decision, that saw Hugo Southwell join Suter and the pair built a good partnership setting up the chase for a final surge. Southwell (24) holed out to deep mid-wicket with 52 required from 8 overs. Heavyside & James Rendell came and went but ultimately Suter (70*) saw the side home to cap off another impressive victory to consolidate 3rd position in the table.

Next week the side will host league leaders Finchampstead before travelling to Hertford in the 2nd round of the Conference Cup.
