Beaconsfield U11s won the Bucks U11s Cup with a strong team performance beating High Wycombe by 47 runs. Having been put into bat, Beaconsfield batted strongly but sensibly to post a very competitive total of 348 for 4 in their 20 overs. Everyone contributed to the Barrington total, with top scorers Mattias Gianneri 18 off 15 balls, Monty Evans 17 off 14 balls and Freddie Fyfe 14 off 10 balls. Adam, Seb, Ben and Ed also reached double figures.
High Wycombe, a much improved and stronger side this year, started their chase well and reached 271 after 10 overs with their “star batsmen to come”. Everyone expected a very close finish ! However the Beaconsfield bowling and fielding on a particularly dry and hard pitch was exceptional taking 7 wickets and restricting High Wycombe to 301. Ben Taylor took 3 wickets, Mattias 2, Monty and Seb 1 each but the line and length of all the bowlers was very good and was ultimately key. The fielding was excellent, with a solid keeping performance from Ed, who has been exceptional throughout the season.
Consequently victory was secured with a complete team performance and represents a great season for the U11s with a solid 2nd place in the league and 4th place for Tornado in Div 2.
With the team all heading to secondary school next year, new Head coach for 2019, Shaun Rhodes has exciting times ahead !
Congratulations to the team – well deserved victory
Honourable mentions go to other players who played in run cup Alfie Rhodes (injured), Matthew Heys ( unavailable due to golf) and Freddie Emery ( on holiday)
