Humphrey Pocock

Michele Taylor

It is with great regret that we let you know that Humphrey Pocock passed away on aged 89

It is with great regret that Beaconsfield Cricket Club announces the death of long-time non-playing member Humphrey Pocock after a long and debilitating illness. He would have become 90 on December 10.

Humphrey had been a leading member of Uxbridge CC for many years and it was from there that his son Philip switched to become Beaconsfield's groundsman, a job he held for 34 years.

Humphrey was better known as a player, official and supporter of Beaconsfield Rugby Club for more than 60 years, holding the position of chairman in the 1973-74 season and becoming president from 1994-2002. He also worked hard for the Bucks RFU, becoming president in the 1983-4 season.

For the last 15 years he suffered from Parkinson's Disease, becoming increasingly incapacitated. Despite this he remained alert and interested in the achievements of both cricket and rugby clubs.

Humphrey's funeral will be held at Amersham Crematorium on Friday November 20th at 1.45pm, where there is sure to be a large gathering.
