u10 Squad continue unbeaten run

Sunday saw the U10 squad continue their unbeaten run this season with victory in the Wooburn Narkovians Kwik Cricket tournament. After starting slowly with a 17 run victory over Winchmore Hill a technological switch to plastic bats saw the squad record further group game wins against Gerrards Cross (by 55 runs) and hosts Wooburn (73 runs). On a swelteringly hot day, the team put on the afterburners in their semi final against Farnham Common amassing 107 runs in their 6 overs having earlier restricted the opposition to 19. Meeting them in the final were the Lee who had played the Strikers during the league season where the red hot form continued with a 45 run victory. Each game had standout contributors throughout the side be it Yogesh and Tom restricting the Gerrards Cross star player to a bit part role, Fraser F smashing the ball to all parts in the semi final, Harry with a diving run out, Hashnain being mr consistent with bat and ball, Fraser R nearly hitting his Dad on the boundary, Samarvir then nearly repeating the trick and Yagnesh getting some unplayable bounce with his legspin. Most pleasing though was the spirit the boys played in adding in a focus on getting a result – special credit also to Tom and Fraser F for their response having been the unfortunate pair to miss out on playing in the final match due to the luck of the draw. Celebrating with his third chocolate doughnut Fraser F is believed to have forgiven his Dad for picking him out of the hat.
