A great team performance dispatched a weak Wooburn team with ease.

The sun was out when we arrived at Wooburn Green, full of confidence after (despite the narrow defeat) the recent really good performance.
Marcus took the captaincy, and although the toss was lost, was happy that Wooburn wanted to bat first. (The Dads were happy too when the bar finally opened.)
The bowling took up where it left off against Coleshill, with some really tight and accurate stuff - in fact, no run was scored off the bat in the first 6 overs! Zac and Arthur bowled some great lines, both picking up a wicket; Josh also continued his recent good form with the ball in hand, being unlucky to not register with at least two balls narrowly missing off stump.
Halfway through the Wooburn innings, they had only got themselves up to 219, with some excellent fielding keeping the pressure on, stopping the opposition picking up easy singles. Throws were backed up, no byes were conceded and you could sense the confidence growing within the Smash team.
More great bowling was shown in the last 8 overs; Angus was once more on the money, Marcus added another wicket to last week's 3, and Gordon finally got off the mark this season with 2 wickets in the final over. Wooburn were restricted to a meagre 232, which we all felt was a fairly easy target to beat.
And so it proved... Spencer and Josh opened up and pushed us to within 1 run of the target in their 4 overs, with some great calling and running, ticking the singles along and rotating the strike. Arthur and Angus shared a partnership of another 35 runs with 11 between them off the bat, before Zac and Angus entered the fray looking to push us up towards the 300 mark. Zac showed some beautiful touch, smashing the only 2 boundaries of our innings to end on 15, and Albert showed good aggression - at one point even charging down the wicket to caress the ball through the covers!
With the game well and truly won already, Marcus and Gordon came in last and started dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground. Just when Coach was daring to dream that we would get through the entire innings without losing a wicket, Marcus got a couple of good ones in the last over; despite this loss of 12 runs, however, we finished on an incredible 316 total, giving the team the enormous winning margin of 84 runs.
A fantastic performance by the whole team! The improvement in everyone's game was clear to see - accurate bowling, great fielding, and the running between the wickets was a sight to behold - so expecting some great things to come for the rest of the season.
