Following the loss of 5 key players to boarding school, it was a new-look Beaconsfield side which undertook a tough first league game of the season at Chesham.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat on a low, damp, pitch which offered few favours to the batsmen.
Parry Dhillon and Matt Healy delivered hostile spells with the new ball, before Joe Ing and Harry Rees chipped in with a couple of wickets each to remove the top order. A combination of tight bowling, sharp stand-up keeping by Oscar Rodgers and shrewd captaincy by Ollie Walter restricted a normally lively Chesham batting line up to 68-9 from their 20 overs.
Having seen how slow the pitch was, the Beaconsfield batsmen adopted a beautifully measured and professional approach to the run chase - reaching their target with 4 overs to spare.
Toby Slater carried his bat for a chanceless 23, Eddie Hilditch batted typically fluently
For his 22 before hitting one straight to cover and Matt Healy struck a pugnacious 11 not out to ease Beaconsfield home for a well earned victory.
A great start to the season against tough opponents.
