Marlow U11 v Beaconsfield U11

It truly felt like summer and what better way to spend an evening than to watch a game of cricket at the beautifull Marlow sports club.

Beaconsfield batted first with the opening pair of Ted & Padraig put on a credible 18/1 aided by a few wide balls. Marlow then picked up the bowling and fielding and by the end of the 12th over we had only added another 5 runs. Time to bring on the big hitter - who else but James M. After adding another 13 runs not out , we finished the innings at 247/7.

A tactical team talk was had at the break helped by delicious lemon drizzle cake made by one of the Marlow boys.

Time to bowl and try and keep Marlow below what seamed like a soft target of 247.

Marlow started steadily and were adding runs to the board. The first break didn't come until the 6th over bowled by Padraig with a great stumping followed by a catch - Game on. 3 more wickets fell in the next 4 overs. Marlow fought back and were on 232 runs before the last pair of batters came on. Beaconsfield produced a fantastic team effort and continued to pressure Marlow with excellent bowling and fielding - Padraig taking 3 catches in total to round off an excellent game, ending the innings at 228/9.
