On Sunday Beaconsfield U9s as league winners played Marlow Town in the league cup final. Beaconsfield won the toss on a lovely sunny day and decided to bowl first. Our bowling and fielding from the start was excellent and we managed to reduce Marlow down to 175 at one stage. However Marlow rallied toward the end of their innings and finished on 239 for 9 wickets. The standard of the Beaconsfield fielding and bowling was excellent throughout and showed how much improvement there has been this season.
Beaconsfield came up against some very strong Marlow bowling from outset and the boys struggled to make any headway into the Marlow total. Mid way through the innings having lost a number of wickets we were on still on 200 but with an outside chance of pulling off a win. However Marlow continued to apply pressure with their accurate and fast bowling combined with good fielding and in the end we were unable to close the gap. Beaconsfield finished on 198 for 13.
Despite the disappointment of losing the boys should be very proud of how they performed today and also how well they have played all season, so well done to all! Also, thanks very much to Fraser today for stepping in at the last minute and doing so well and to Suzie for refreshments
Thanks also to Ailsa, Mike, Paul and Nicky for their help today and all this season and to everyone for their support.
