After a poor half term, we were blessed with a stunning afternoon for cricket.
Ben won the toss and we decided to bat. Charlies (McLaughlan & Stocks) batted sensibly and moved the score on, opening. Seb (10), and Ariyan (8) then did well to keep our total moving forward. Ben and Jesse finished the innings strongly with 13 and 3 runs with good running between the wickets and solid hitting. A number of Farnham wides helped us get up to a competitive 285. Crucially we only lost 5 wickets - well done.
Farnham started well but wickets from Nye, Jesse and 2 from Seb in the early overs kept their score in check. Harvey, Ariyan and Josh all on debuts bowled well and took 2 wickets between them. Ben, with 3 wickets, and Charlie bowled the final 4 overs to cruise to a comfortable victory. 9 wickets was a good reward for our bowling.
One area we need to work on is fielding. We caught really well with Felix, Nye and Charlie taking good catches and Ben an exceptional one, but our ground fielding and returning the ball to the keeper needs practice - we will work on it on Sundays.
This completed a great weekend for us with our team beating the old rivals the U8s on Friday and the U9As beating Ballinger Waggoners.
Proud Manager enjoyed his celebratory beer on sun night !
