Great start to the season!

Despite overnight rain causing a little concern that if it continued our first match would need to be rearranged, the clouds lightened a little to ensure our first ever league match got underway at home this morning.

The boys all looked great in their whites, Stewart was looking suitably official as umpire and special thanks up front to Mannie who I collared to do the scoring and did a great job!
I am not sure whether Krish won or lost the toss, but we batted first. Deelan and Roop opened and played some lovely shots, some of them even on the offside! The score was 230 after their 4 overs and we were off and running. Krish and Archie came in next, and again there were some lusty blows! Krish top scored with 9 and the score after 8 overs was 250. Ollie and Tom were next in, and against some accurate bowling lost a couple of wickets but brought the score back to 253 after 12 overs. Sam and Miles were next in, they did a good job against the straight balls and called well. The final pairing was Harvey and Thomas and, as with all the pairings, they ran well, looked good and moved the score onto a final figure of 305 for 3.

We managed to score 58 runs off the bat, lost 18 runs for the 3 wickets and had 65 runs added for wides and no balls.

After a lovely half time snack provided by the Etchells (many thanks) we went out to field and defend our total. Special mention must go to our opening pair of bowlers, Roop and Deelan, who between them took 6 wickets for 6 runs in their 4 overs. Deelan returned with figures of 4 wickets for 0 runs, spectacular!
Everyone bowled really well, with Archie, Miles, Sam and Thomas also claiming a wicket each.

We took 10 wickets, only bowled 16 wides and no balls and supported each other really well in the field. I did wonder if we were ever going to take a catch but then Archie managed to hold onto one right at the end !

Penn and Tyler's green ended their 20 overs on 199.

Overall a great first match, proud coaches and parents, but most importantly played in a great atmosphere, junior cricket was definitely the winner!

Next match is on 27th May against Gerrards Cross Tigers.
