U10s make it 5 on the bounce with another stylish victory.

A late Sunday afternoon fixture, under threatening skies, saw the visit of Amersham to Wilton Park - a new and unknown opponent.
A strong BCC team lead by Josh chose to field first, and were given fair warning of the task ahead when the second ball of the innings was crunched for a straight four. The opening bowling pair of Josh and James, however, were more than up to the task and conceded just 1 more run off the bat; James making up for spilling a skyer off Josh's bowling by taking the wicket of the opposition captain - Josh in return holding on to the catch.
With just 205 on the board after the opening pair, things didn't much improve for Amersham; Ben added to his impressive wickets tally this year and Finn following up on his heroics earlier in the week nabbing a wicket with his very last ball.
Gordon's trend of wicket-maidens continued, so restricting the batting team still to just 205 after 9 overs, before the rain started falling. A slippery ball gave Armaan some problems with his length, but thankfully conditions improved for Curran and Tom to finish off the innings - Josh completing a sharp stumping to complete a great display with the gloves. Just 6 runs off the last 4 overs meant Amersham finished on a fairly meagre 231.
There was no room for complacency though, and BCC were immediately tested with James and Armaan - despite some fluent hitting by both - losing a wicket each. Finn crunched a couple of beauties through midwicket, and Ben played a couple of stylish late cuts to steer the score in the right direction, but the loss of 2 more wickets kept the opposition interested in pulling off a shock.
Tom and Gordon, however, once again put together a wicketless partnership; amassing 27 runs through quick running and strike rotation, as well as finding the rope several times between them. This put BCC 15 runs ahead of their target, enabling our regular finishers of Josh and Curran the license to see us home with their usual flair, adding another 33 runs despite the loss of a couple of more wickets.
All in all, another great performance. Despite losing more wickets than Amersham, some majestic hitting and some really tight bowling meant there was only really ever one side in it.
A great week for the whole squad - 3 wins in 6 days being really good preparation for the upcoming crunch match of the season, away at GX, our early season conquerors...
Man of the match: Gordon - for yet another all round solid performance with bat and ball... although we will be practising the long barrier this weekend!
